Art & Crafts Teacher: Mrs. Girlie
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grades 9+

A class open to any high school student interested in exploring a hands-on craft experience in an atmosphere that is less formal than Art I class. This class is designed to give the student an opportunity to try many crafts and to learn the techniques required for each one. They will learn about the techniques of the craft, the history, and the safety factors. Projects may include: stained glass painting, weaving, enameling, simple jewelry making, paper mache, and mosaics.


Art I Teacher: Mrs. Girlie
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grades 9+
Students will be developing the skills and techniques needed to create works of art. Students will explore various medias and materials in creating their projects or activities.


Art II Teacher: Mrs. Girlie
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grades 10+ (Prerequisite: Art 1)

Art II students will be developing higher-level skills and techniques by creating long-term projects.  Students will work in a unit plan format that will require students to work on more than one project or activity for the unit.


Art III Teacher: Mrs. Girlie
Credit: 1 Prerequisite: Grades 10+ (Art I, Art II)  

This art course is designed for students who have completed Art I and Art II.  This advanced course is designed to further knowledge and abilities in a variety of areas and develop a body of artwork.


Portfolio Art   Teacher: Mrs. Girlie
Credit: 1 Prerequisite: Grade 12(Art I, Art II, Art III, and with instructor’s approval)  

This art course is designed for students who have completed Art I through Art III and are considering further education in an artistic or art-related field and/or who are serious art students. Students will be building a professional portfolio of their artwork that is necessary for admission into a higher education program. Instructor’s approval is necessary for taking this course.
