Spanish I is an introductory course on the Spanish language. The majority of course work is focused on vocabulary and oral comprehension. |

| Primarily a course in reading, however, students will also work to improve listening skills and fluency in speaking. Increased emphasis on development of all forums of communication: reading, writing ,listening, and speaking. |
| American Sign Language I |

Prerequisites:One year foreign language in the regular classroom setting. As the class size is limited to five students, applicants for this class will be evaluated to determine appropriate placement. |
| This course is the first year of a two-year program designed to provide non-native speakers/signers an opportunity to study American Sign Language (ASL) as a foreign/second language. The Ohio state law, HB 216 recognizes ASL as a foreign language and as a fulfillment of a high school foreign language graduation requirement. No previous knowledge is necessary for ASL I. The introductory course ASL I is a prerequisite for ASL II. In this course, students will learn how to exchange personal information, ie., give their names, tell where they live, and talk about their families. Students will learn how to make appropriate introductions, how to get the attention of a Deaf person, and how to negotiate the environment of signed conversations. Students will be exposed to Deaf Culture and ASL Literature through videotape presentations with native signers modeling appropriate language and cultural behaviors for various situations. This course will emphasize four areas-cultural awareness, vocabulary, grammatical features, and conversational skills. |

This course is the second year of a two-year program. In this course, students will learn to locate things around the house, ask for solutions to everyday problems, tell about life events, describe objects, and talk about weekend activities. Students will also be exposed to Deaf Culture and ASL Literature through video tape presentations with native signers modeling appropriate language and cultural behaviors for various situations. |

This course is the third year of American Sign Language as a foreign language. In this course students will continue to use the Master ASL! txt/video. Each unit focuses on different language skills such as building narrative skills developing conversational skills used in everdaydiscussions, explaining ideas or how things work and why things are the way they are. Students will also learn how to sign ASL from written text. More exposure to ASL story telling videos will boost their comprehension skills and expand their vocabulary. |
