When students apply for scholarships, they should carefully read and follow all the directions that are given in the scholarship application. If the scholarship application requires a letter of recommendation, students should plan ahead and give those people that are writing the recommendations at least a week to two weeks lead time.




Elks National Foundation 2010 Most Valuable Student Scholarship
 
2 first place awards of $60,000 ($15,000 per year for 4 years

BURGER KING Scholars Program criteria

Applicant must be a high school senior who:

  • Maintains a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • Works part-time for a miniumum of 10 hours per week or 40 weeks per year
  • Be actively involved in community service activities
  • Demonstrates financial need (1040 form required)
  • Plans to enroll in an accredited two/or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by fall of the application year.

Applications are available online Sept. 14, 2009 - Feb. 1, 2010. Applications and all accompanying materials must be postmarked no later than Feb. 1, 2010. Instructions on how students can apply re indicated on the attached flyer and can be posted on your high school's scholarship bulletin board. Burger King Scholars awards are $1,000 each and may be used for educational expenses, such as tuition fees and books, during the first year of college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. For studends to qualify, they must be a high school senior and a resident of the U.S., Canada or Puerto rico that meets our criteria below. BigSun Scholarship

The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athleres are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in.

Deadline- June 24, 2010

Amount of award- $500.00

The successful applicant will be a high school senior ot be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.

Hispainic Awareness Organization Scholarship

Deadline:  3/1/2010

Available to Hispanic high school seniors or older college re-entry students.  Students must be pursing a two or four year degree and must have at least a “C” high school average.  Applications are in the Guidance office.

ProMedica Health System’s “Fields of Green” Scholarship

Deadline:  12/1/09

Looking for money for college? Enter ProMedica Health System’s Fields of Green scholarship
competition and you and your teammates could each win $5,000! The Fields of Green
scholarship program challenges teams of two – four students in grades 10 – 12 to design
a health and fitness program “kit” for elementary school students, including activities and
promotional materials. Contest guidelines and entry details can be found on the ProMedica
web site, www.promedica.org, or in the guidance office.

The William D. Squires Educational Foundation Scholarship
Deadline:  4/5/10
This is a financial need-based scholarship.  Scholarship Award amount: $3,000 per calendar year and renewable for a total of up to $12,000.  Minimum GPA: 3.2 is required.

Paulding-Putnam Electric Cooperative, Inc. Scholarship
Deadline:  2/12/2010
Applicants must be a child of homeowner or renter living on Paulding-Putnam lines. 
Applicants must be accepted at an accredited 4 year college or a vocational/technical school whose credits are transferable to an accredited college.
A 3.5 GPA is required. Scholarships range from $500 to $800.  Applications must be typed.  Further information can be obtained in the Guidance office or online at www.buckeyepower.com.          

Cargill Community Scholarship Program:  Deadline:  2/15/10
350 ($1,000) scholarships will be awarded nationwide.  Students are selected based on academic achievement and leadership in extracurricular and civic activities.  More information can be found in the Guidance Office or online at www.cargill.com, keyword: scholarship.


Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools-Deadline:  
More than 275 scholarship opportunities for 2010 ranging from $2,000-$12,995.  Applicants must have at least a “C” average to apply.  Nomination from an Ohio legislator is required.  More information can be found at www.ohiocareercolleges.org.


J.P. Crain Family Scholarship   Deadline 4/15/10
The amount of this renewable scholarship varies and is available to Paulding County High School Seniors with at least a 3.0 GPA.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office and should be returned to the address on the application.


James Kura Memorial Scholarship:    Deadline:  2/19/2010
Applicants must be seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA and be accepted by an accredited, 4 year college, beginning the academic year 2010-2011.  Applicants must also submit a 2 page essay.  Applications are in the Guidance Office  and should be returned to the address on the application.

 

The PDR Foundation, Inc. Scholarship  Deadline:  2/26/10
The PDR Foundation, Inc. Scholarships are sponsored by Patrick and Debbie Ryan.
Seniors applying for this scholarship must have a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 and plan to attend a four year college.  The scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, school and community activities, financial need, and personal character.  Two (2) $1500 scholarships are given to students attending any four year college institution.  One (1) $2000 scholarship is awarded to a student planning to attend Bowling Green State University.  Applications are in the Guidance Office.

Farm Credit Services of Mid-American  Deadline:  2/28/10  

Scholarships may be submitted by students who are 4-H members or whose parents are members of the Farm Credit Services of Mid-America. Scholarship applications can be found at www.efarmcredit.com  (under the Community Giving tab).  Further information can also be found in the Guidance Office

Winners Club Scholarship-Deadline:  4/15/2009
        Students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and pursing a degree in education. Applications are available at www.winnersclubscholarship.visioncomm.net

Paulding County Hospital Foundation  Deadline: 3/10/09    This scholarship in the amount of $1,000  is available to a high school senior planning to pursue an advanced degree in healthcare.  The student must have a GPA of 3.0.  Applications are available in the Guidance Office. 


The Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers
Leadership and Service Scholarship  Deadline:  2/26/09
Six $500 scholarships available to seniors planning to attend selected 2 or 4 year colleges throughout Ohio.  A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required.  Details of this scholarship can be found in the applications located in the Guidance Office or www.ohioaacro.org.

Western Buckeye Chapter of Credit Unions: Deadline: 3/1/09 Eight scholarships, in the amount of $500 each, will be awarded. The applicants must be at least a senior in high school and plan to participate in post-secondary studies. Scholarship applications are in the Guidance Office.

 

Community Memorial Hospital Scholarship Deadline: 3/26/10
 This scholarship is for students who plan on entering the medical field in some capacity. Three scholarships of $1000 will be awarded. You must have two letters of recommendation and a letter of acceptance to a health program. Applications are in the Guidance Office.



Masonic Omega Lodge #564 of Defiance Scholarship  Deadline:  3/12/10
One $300 scholarship to a graduating senior.  Applications are in the Guidance Office.



Paulding Couty Area Foundation Scholarship  Deadline:  4/12/10
An anonymous donor has offered to give a scholarship of $1,000.00 each to two graduating seniors that are going on to college.  Scholarship preference will be given to those students majoring in agriculture, also, recipients should have the intention of returning to NW Ohio after their college graduation, but this is not a requirement.  Applications are in the Guidance Office.
