Basic Biology Teacher: Mr. Rangel
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 9+

Biology I will introduce the basic life process, as well as the study of plant and animal life. 

                       

Physical Science Teacher: Mrs. Reinhart
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 9+
Physical Science is a study of matter and energy.  Emphasis is placed on the application of physical laws and their part in technological advances. The course also involves learning about the chemical and physical properties of elements, properties of light and sound, effective use of energy, and conservation.

Advanced Biology Teacher: Mr. Rangel
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 10+ (Grade of C or better in Biology I)
The first nine weeks is the study of plant taxonomy; second nine weeks is the study of classic and molecular genetics; third nine weeks is the study of biotechnology; fourth nine weeks is the study of ecology.

Anatomy and Physiology Teacher: Mr. Rangel
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 10+ (C or better in Biology I)

An advanced course covering the structural and functional systems of the Human Body, which includes cat dissection.  Most emphasis is placed on functions (Physiology).


Chemistry Teacher: Mrs. Reinhart
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 10+ (completed Algebra I)

Deals with the structure and composition of matter, changes in matter, the mechanism by which these changes occur, the products formed, and the energy changes encountered. Required for college prep and nursing.


Advanced Chemistry Teacher: Mrs. Reinhart
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 11+ (completed Chemistry)
Chemistry topics are discussed in depth. Organic, atomic, and electro chemistry thermodynamics are introduced. College prep.

Physics Teacher: Mrs. Reinhart
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 11+ (completed Algebra II)
A study of the physical universe concerned with the relation between matter and energy. This is a basic course for students expecting to go into any area requiring a strong science background. College prep.

World Conservation  Teacher: Mr. Rangel
Credit: 1 Prerequisites: Grade 11+

A study of water conservation, soil conservation and air pollution plus the identification, habitat, reproduction and feeding habits of birds, fish, and mammals.  This course also contains wildlife conservation methods.

                       

ACT Prep Teacher: Tomlinson
Credit: .5 Prerequisites: Grades 11+

Students will prepare for the American College Testing (ACT) with this course.  Advanced testing-taking strategies, concepts and patterns, as well as time management will be presented.  Students will reinforce strategies through practice tests that will review prior core/college prep curriculum.  Areas covered will include English, Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, and Science reasoning.
