About the Organization:
Student Technology Services was founded in the spring of 2001 through a "matching funds" grant awarded by S.O.S. (Students For Other Students), a non-profit organization promoting peer mentoring. The school employs some of the STS students during the summer and for special projects during the school year. They perform many technology-related tasks such as hardware and software support, training, drive imaging, web design, assisting staff with technology integration, and independent online learning. Our new K-12 facility has provided additional technology mentoring opportunities such as video distribution, live broadcasting, classroom audio enhancement systems, and wireless networking. The STS students plan and facilitate Technology BOOT Camps during the summer to train new STS interns and other students on various aspects of technology. They are also involved in various service learning projects through a learn & Serve America Grant.
